Last year together we raised over $14,100 for homeless Veterans here in Maine. Only with your help can we successfully come together again in support of our most vulnerable heroes. Come play in the cold, so Veterans do not live in the cold.

About the event

In 2014 the Corey E Garver American Legion Post 202 hosted its first Winter Classic Softball event. This event is designed to raise money to be donated towards an organization that works directly with homeless Veterans within the state of Maine. An abbreviated version of Softball is played double elimination tournament style by participants of the event. American Legion posts, churches, actual softball teams, and other community members have come and enjoyed the day with us. The games are 6 innings each and the batter steps up to the plate with 2 strikes to accommodate the number of teams/participants(also it is February and we are not athletes). The winner of the tournament does receive a trophy at the end of the day. The cost of the trophy, balls, spray paint or any other items do not come out of the money raised, nothing does. The full 100% of the money raised is donated towards that year's organization. The organization differs each year, but is always available by contacting the Post. Each team donates $200 towards the event. This year we are solicitating local businesses to join us in our mission to end Veteran homelessness. Businesses that donate are welcome to secure a banner to our fence during the game, receive an honorable mention on our social media outlets, and will be mentioned in our newsletter once the event is complete. This is a ton of fun that you could only understand by being in the energy of the event. Come once and you’ll be back every year.

    Each participating team donates a minimum of $200. All money donated is tax deductible and goes 100% to the benefactor of the event.
